Riccardo Fogli

Riccardo Fogli was born on October 21, 1947, in Pontedera, Tuscany (Italy). Deeply passionate about music from a young age, he began his artistic career in the 1960s, first joining the band Gli Slenders, and later, in 1966, becoming the singer and bassist of the famous Italian group Pooh. With them, he quickly achieved success, notably with the hit “Piccola Katy.”

In 1973, Fogli decided to pursue a solo career. His first album was released in 1976, and throughout the 1970s and 1980s, he established himself as one of Italy’s most beloved artists, enjoying great success with songs such as “Mondo,” “Storie di tutti i giorni” (with which he won the prestigious Sanremo Festival in 1982), “Malinconia,” “Che ne sai,” and “Per Lucia.”

His warm, melodic voice earned him international recognition. In 1983, he represented Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Per Lucia.” Over the course of his long career, Riccardo Fogli has released numerous albums, successfully blending romantic ballads with upbeat pop tracks.

In the 2000s, he remained very active, participating in several editions of the Sanremo Festival and performing on international tours. In 2015, he reunited temporarily with Pooh for a special anniversary tour celebrating the band’s 50th anniversary, which featured sold-out concerts across Italy.

In recent years, Fogli has appeared on popular Italian television shows such as “Music Farm” and “L’isola dei famosi,” further expanding his popularity with a broader audience. He continues to be a sought-after guest at musical and television events and regularly performs both in Italy and abroad.
