Corona
Olga de Souza, known by her stage name Corona, was born in Rio de Janeiro into a music-loving family. After working briefly at a bank, she traveled to the United States and then throughout Europe, eventually settling in Italy, where she was discovered as an artist.
In 1994, she achieved immediate success with the hit “The Rhythm of the Night,” which stayed at number one in Italy for 13 consecutive weeks and sold over a million copies in the UK. This song catapulted Corona to global stardom, earning her 15 gold and platinum records and establishing her as a queen of dance music.
Several more hits followed quickly, including “Baby Baby,” “Try Me Out,” and “I Don’t Wanna Be a Star.” In 1996, she hosted the popular Festivalbar in Italy and then Dance Machine in France the following year, reinforcing her international success.
In 1998, she released the album “Walking on Music,” followed by “And Me U” in 2000. In 2004, she paid tribute to her Brazilian roots with “A cor dos teus olhos” and “Garota Brasileira.” She continued exploring diverse musical styles while collaborating with various international labels.
During the 2010s, she remained active with the album “Y Generation” (2010/2011), featuring a mix of pop, rock, and dance, followed by “Queen of Town” in 2013 and singles like “Super Model” and “We Used to Love” in 2015–2016.
From 1994 to 2018, Corona continued to tour the world successfully, constantly adapting to new generations of fans and maintaining a strong and lasting popularity.
